Westerly Creek's Annual Fund

Westerly Creek Elementary is one of the largest elementary schools in the DPS. WCE currently enrolls 715+ students and serves a close-knit community that is interested and involved in children's’ intellectual and social growth.

The Annual Fund, School Sponsorships, Spring Auction and Book It to the Creek are Westerly Creek’s major fundraisers that strive to be the bridge between district funding and the actual cost of our children’s curriculum.

Without help from the Westerly Creek community, our children’s education would not regularly include Art, Drama, Physical Education, Library and Technology as well as full time Paraprofessionals.

The goal of the Annual Fund is not a specific number but rather 100% school wide participation to show we all care to make Westerly Creek the best it can be. Every gift to the Annual Fund, provides our children opportunities to enrich their learning and school experiences and not only “like” but LOVE WCE.

Denver Public Schools (DPS) provides basic financial needs, but it is not enough to provide a great well-rounded education for our students. That’s where the community comes in.

Fundraising efforts help WCE provide the “extras” for our kids that are not provided by DPS:

  • Full-time Paraprofessionals (teacher aides) in all Kindergarten classrooms

  • 2 full time Paraprofessionals shared between the 1st grade class rooms

  • Literacy Paraprofessional to support all 2nd grade students

  • Recess coach

  • 1 to 1 device in all 2nd- 5th grade classrooms

  • 1st grade Chromebooks and Ipads

  • Kindergarten I-pads in each classroom

  • Literacy support for all K-2 students

  • Math support for K-5 grade

  • Additional Hours allocated to the Gifted and Talented program

  • Full time Health Para Tech in our Nurse’s Office

  • Special community events like the Turkey Trot

  • Special requests for student engagement opportunties, like the climbing wall

This is why fundraising at Westerly Creek is so important – it provides our students with high levels of service that DPS is not able to fund. To provide these essentials for this school year, the PTA has committed to granting $150,000 to supplement the DPS budget, which equals about $250 per student.

Please consider making a direct gift to our Annual Fund today. Every donation helps, no matter the amount to be that bridge between DPS funding and our Westerly Creek Kids.
